Profile
Moisès Graells is Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at UPC. He has been a researcher in CEPIMA since 1991 and now leads the group, which is part of the consolidated research group ENCORE. He is principal investigator of the P2CE project (Powering Circular Economy) and has led or taken part in many competitive R&D and technology transfer projects funded by public bodies, the EU and industry.
His research is in process systems engineering (PSE): modelling, optimisation, planning, process integration and supply chain management. He applies mathematical programming, artificial intelligence and decision-support tools to the circular economy, renewable energy systems, microgrids and wastewater treatment. He has co-supervised 14 doctoral theses, co-authored around 100 peer-reviewed papers (h-index 26, Scopus) and presented more than 300 conference contributions.
He has taught at several UPC schools, currently the EEBE, and his contributions to educational innovation have been recognised with the Vicens Vives distinction (Government of Catalonia). He promotes the UPC student chapter of AIChE and is a member of the EFCE Working Party on Education. He is treasurer of SEQUI (Sociedad Española de Química Industrial e Ingeniería Química), through which he has helped organise the Mediterranean Congress of Chemical Engineering (MeCCE), chairing its 14th edition.
