Franc González Cazorla

Industrial PhD student, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and GasN2

Profile

Franc González Cazorla is an industrial PhD candidate in Chemical Engineering at UPC, working within the ENCORE research groups (CEPIMA and NEMEN) and the company GasN2. His research focuses on process design and synthesis for CO₂ hydrogenation to methanol. Using process simulation, he studies how the purity of captured CO₂ affects the costs and profitability of green methanol production, and compares alternative CO₂ upcycling routes to methanol.

Experience

  • R&D Project Leader (industrial PhD), GasN2, Sentmenat, since July 2024
  • R&D Junior Scientist, Eurofragance, Sant Cugat del Vallès, October 2022 – July 2024
  • R&D intern, Grupo de Desarrollo Empresarial I+D+i, Terrassa, February 2021 – October 2022. Lab-scale development of microcapsules and technical documentation of innovation and R&D projects.
  • Chemical process simulation trainee, UPC, Terrassa, September 2020 – February 2021. Simulation of chemical engineering unit operations with DWSIM.

Education

  • Industrial PhD in Chemical Engineering (in progress), UPC, since September 2024
  • MSc in Chemical Engineering: Smart Polymer Engineering, UPC, 2021–2023
